Morning Prayer


Loving God,

Today is your day. Thank you for giving me today. Lord, throughout this day I am going to need your help and there are going to be times that I try to do it all on my own. I know that I can't be the person that you want me to be and that I want to be if my focus is on me. Help me to keep my focus on you in everything that I do. And forgive me when I don't. Help me to love today. Help me to forgive. Help me to be a grace giver. Help me to recognise your image in everyone that I encounter. Help me to fan the flame of your Spirit rather than be a wet towel that smothers out your flame. Lord I pray that today I might glorify you in my relationships, in my encounters with others, in all that I say and do.

Lord, you know my needs today. When I am stressed, when I am frustrated, when I fall short of my prayer today, let these emotions be triggers for me to focus on you. Help me to turn these moment into a time for me to recognise my need for you. Thank you for today Lord! I Love you! In Christ name I pray, Amen

I think what I get most out of this is a reminder of more than one thing - first of all, we need to remember that pastors are sinners just like the rest of us, I sometimes think people expect pastors to never mess up but you are no different from the rest of us, we all falter with our faith and our following of God. Second, I never thought about seeing God's image in everyone I encounter. It certainly would make some people easier to love. And third, to stop throughout the day and listen to God. I pray but I don't always listen - I sometimes have problem with that - my mouth runs faster than my ears!
