We cant fool God

I am not sure if it is that we try to fool God or that in an attempt to try to fool ourselves we hope God wont notice that we are lying to him and ourselves.

The truth is we know deep down that we are lying to ourselves. We also know that we cant fool God.  Yet, we  try it all the time.  We will tell ourselves and profess a love for God above everything else and then we put all kinds of stuff ahead of our relationship with God.  Family will go first.  Our job will go first.  Money will go first.  We will put our own wants and desires first.  We will put ourselves first. 

WE CANT FOOL GOD.  

We will say that we want Jesus to save us and be Lord of our lives but we refuse to turn away from our old way of life.  We fool ourselves into thinking that we can have the benefit of what Jesus can give us without giving our lives to him.  We turn Jesus into an enhancement to our lives rather than making him our lives.  God is not fooled by our words in a prayer.  He knows us.  He knows our hearts.  He knows our motives.

True worship and true repentance is authentic.  It begins in honesty. It is honest.  It begins when we stop trying to fool ourselves and God.  New life in Christ happens when we stop living the old life and live a new life in Christ.  New life happens when it is no longer I that live but Christ lives in me.  It does not happen because we say certain words.  It happens when we surrender and get real with God.  Real about who we are.  Real about who God is.  Real about our love.
