What is in You
I read this verse this morning first thing and it has me meditating on what is in me and does it show in how I live my day?
" For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline."
2 Timothy 1:7
We have been given a Spirit of power. The same power that raised Christ from the dead has been given to us. The power that God gives us is the same power that calms the raging seas and restores sight to the blind. It is the same power that healed the leper and cast out demons. It is in me and you. It is God's gift to us when we give pour lives to him.
The same love that is touched the leper, not just pronounced a healing, and turns the other cheek is the Spirit that is within us. The love that lays down his life for his friends and for those that rebel against him is in you and me. It is a Spirit of love. God gives us his heart when we give him ours.
And it is the Spirit of self-discipline. God gives us his Spirit and his Spirit helps us to get control of ourselves. When we give up the control of our lives and live by the Spirit, it is then that we really gain control and have the power to be self-disciplined. Until we do we will always struggle with to do what God desires us to do. Too often people think that they must get themselves together and then they will give their lives to Jesus. The truth is that we can't get things together until we give ourselves to Jesus and he gives himself to us. Then we receive the power, the love and the self-discipline that can only be found in Christ.
