Bread Alone
I saw a church sign the other day that said, "Are you trying to life by bread alone?"
They are referring to the passage in Matthew that says we "shall not live by bread alone but every word that comes from the mouth of God." As I drove past and read the sign my thought was "why do we so often try to live by bread alone?" We know that we can't live by bread alone but we still try. We will go days without listening to God or leaning on his word. We will trust ourselves but never trust in God. We know that we should live by every word that comes from the mouth of God but we settle for just bread.
Are you living by bread alone? When we do that we are still hungry and empty. Maybe it is time to lean on Jesus? Maybe it is time to live by every word that comes from the mouth of God?
