The Wants
The wants. We all have them. If we are honest we when we wake up each morning the wants begin and they sometimes don't end when we fall asleep. We dream about things that we want. The problem can be that we become consumed by our wants. The "want monster" takes over and we are consumed by all that we don't have rather than thankful for what we do have.
The 23 Psalm says, "The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not want." The Lord is all that we need. What combats the want monster is Jesus. The thing that fills the whole that we are trying to fill with all the things that we want, is Jesus. C.S. Lewis describes it as "a God sized whole." This is why we still feel empty and the wants continue even after we get the thing we thought we want. The whole can only be filled with God. The want that we ultimately want is Jesus.
