Lenten Reflection 19:The Faithful Love of God

"Know therefore that the Lord your God is God; he is the faithful God, keeping his covenant of love to a thousand generations of those who love him and keep his commandments."
Deuteronomy 7:9 NIV

Covenants are binding promises.

We as people don't always keep are promises.  Truth be told all of us have been disappointed by promises not kept. Also, truth be told, we have not kept promises that we have made and we we have disappointed others.

This is not so with God.  God makes a covenant and and God keeps it.  He is faithful.  That is a big statement about God.  That makes God vastly different from us. He is faithful.  He can be trusted.  When God makes a promise we will not be left disappointed.  He will never brake his covenant with us.  It is a guaranteed deal because he is faithful.

The writer of Deuteronomy reminds us that the covenant that God has made with you and me that will never be broken is a covenant of love.

God loves you and his deepest desire is for you and I to love him in return.  He will be faithful and we can trust him.  He will not fail us.

Love today.

In Christ's love and mine,
Doug
