Daily

"Then he said to them all: "If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me. For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for me will save it. What good is it for a man to gain the whole world, and yet lose or forfeit his very self ? If anyone is ashamed of me and my words, the Son of Man will be ashamed of him when he comes in his glory and in the glory of the Father and of the holy angels." Luke 9:24-26

This is some very important teaching about being real in following Jesus. It tells us that for us to live we need to lose our lives for Jesus. If we want to be save our lives than we need to die to our lives and live for Jesus. This is tough teaching and probably the toughest part of this teaching, and the most important, is that Jesus says that following him is something that we have to do daily. It requires us intentionally giving everyday to Jesus. Everyday denying our way, our love, our selfishness for God's way, God's love and Christ-centerdness. Just because we did it yesterday does not make it true for today. Jesus said that following him is a daily practice and a daily discipline.

May we take the teachings of Jesus to heart today and make the most of the day that God has given us. Tomorrow may we do it all over again.

Any thoughts?

In Christ's Love and mine,
Doug
